You know, there may be some people on the List who are concerned and a
bit frightened about the prospect of another hurricane hitting the Gulf
in the next few weeks. So, why don't you all give it a rest? Who cares
if Ileana's statement re. hurricanes late in the season was totally
accurate or not. She was just trying to make a positive point...
Paulette in NC (Who has lived through 6 hurricanes and many tropical
storms, and if we didn't have a litter due, would be packing for
Beaumont.)

This is not exactly accurate information...?
Just off the top of my head some November Hurricanes come to mind.?
2001 - Michelle, 1999 - Lenny, 1985 - Kate, which actually hit the Gulf
of Mexico areas in mid - late November.? I am certain there are several
others.?? No, it doesn't happen every year, but it is certainly
possible.?
Typically, Ohio in October is beautiful.? Everyone knows Lexington was a
fluke.? I thought Colorado was perfect dog show weather.?? I would take
chilly anyday over hot or stormy etc.??
Not that any of the above elements would keep me from going to the
National!? LOL?? And - ?I hope that it doesn't keep anyone else either.?

Well, pretty much the same way the come up with a site anywhere in the
Nation......
location, location, location.
Having lived in Hurricane ally for the largest part of my life, come
November most of the Hurricane season is done. I think the last time we
had a
really
late one was in the 1950's.
Now, we may have snow next year in Ohio, and we froze our rears in
Lexington, and last year in Colorado wasn't exactly a warm memory. Oh
yeah, and
I was
in Louisiana for Katrina. Made for very adventurous driving.
But since we cant control the weather, we just have to learn to deal
with
it. And if my boss doesn't mind and if the price is right, I will be at
the
National this year and next year and any other year, sun, rain, snow or
wind
non
withstanding.
Don't get me wrong, I am not making light of the suffering of those who
have
to deal with the aftermath. I was right there after Hugo. But I am
more
concerned about my dog's training and performance than about the specter
of
possible bad weather.
So Laura, are you going to Beaumont, and have you made your entry?
Look
forward to meeting you there.
For those overwhelmed by the thoughts of bad weather, it is best to stay
home. In Texas the weather will change faster than you can report it.
