W ords O f W isdom from a neat mild mannered male --Ha! Beyond this List, Oak's words herein should halt political placings! However, remember the TV -- "Different Strokes" - if you're old enough to do so - they are for "Different Folks" In limited walks of life, we are very fortunate, if we are permitted to choose our judges. It's an honor to be able to do so but it's not a common thing in many venues of life. This thread is quite educational concerning something that "is" life in the dog show lane as well as in some other aspects, but not all. My opinion of what makes a good GSD can differ from yours, we both read the standard, we both have valid opinions. That's why we breed. Some judges like what I breed, some do not. Just their opinion, does not change my opinion, but I do try to show under judges whose record shows they put up GSD's like I want to show to them. I currently have 2 CH boys living at the house, Finished both of them myself. I dearly love them both, they have great attributes and I breed them accordingly. The bitches I would breed one to are nothing, for the most part, like the bitches I breed the other to. They are both great dogs, deserving of their CH status. But Judges who would place one of them in the groups or BISS at specialties are not, for the most part, the same judges who place the other CH. My latest boy finished in the all breed ring, got two of his majors in the Specialty ring, was owner handled to a major in the all breed ring, and 8 of his points came from specialties and 8 from all breeds. BUT I still think my other CH boy is a better GSD and the judges who put him up did not like my latest boy. They both meet the standard but they are different.
