Molly, thanks for the info on Vectra. I will definitely check it out.

We live in the woods and have a problem with raccoons and opossums eating the
cat food. Word of warning.. If raccoons frequently visit your property,
beware of the raccoon roundworm, Baylisascaris procyonis . This is not the
same species as the dog roundworm, i.e. Toxocara canis.

I had a bitch who ate raccoon poop and became infected with raccoon roundworms.
(She was on Interceptor at the time, but still became infested.) She almost
died. As well as dogs, these nasty critters pose a serious threat to humans,
other mammals and even some birds.

Check out this article on the Center for Disease Control's website under
"Emerging Infectious Diseases."

We have the same, many feral cats and squirrels around which are truly infested.
I fought here with so many different products to control including Advantage,
Frontline, Advantix, Comfortis, Capstar, DM to name a few and an excellent
pesticide dilute for tree's that worked great for 6 months.
Fleas get immune after time to near anything you use.....

Over 2 years ago my vet recommended a product called Vectra .........and I have
never seen anything work so well and efficiently. You can get Vectra 3D too
which includes ticks and mosquitoes which I use every 3rd month.
Have not found a flea on anything here in well over a year and this is a
product that apparently the fleas do not get immune to. Vet calls it the "new
wave" in treatment.

There have been a few reported cases of skin rashes after use, and I had it on
1 dog that was fighting Rocky Mountain spotted fever......so on him, his immune
system was out of whack at the time.

Hated wasting money on so many products that only helped............Vectra I
can strongly recommend.

Did Dr. Coble say *exactly* why she did not like the drug? Has she treated any
dogs who had a bad reaction? I'd really like to know because we now have fleas
on our property for the first time in 17+ years and I'm looking at different
products. Remind me to never feed feral cats again. They are flea magnets who
multiply like
rabbits!============================================================================
