I suggest that whenever someone brings up a problem, they also come up with at
least one workable solution - so how do you realistically suggest this country
with its many problems of people suffering, take care of this issue?
I agree that I would much prefer not to use these methods, but I have not
come with a workable solution for them.

Before you jump to conclusions and assume they are doing this because they WANT
o - just imagine how much of a rabies threat there has to be for them to do
his. Would you rather control the virus or have thousands of stray starving
ogs? You decide. And decide again when your grandchild gets rabies. Choices are
ot always easy, nor fair, but sometimes they need to be made.

SRINAGAR, India - Authorities in Indian Kashmir have begun poisoning stray dogs
n an anti-rabies drive that aims to kill some 100,000 dogs in the regionâ??s

ity, officials said Thursday.
Animal rights activists vowed to go to court to stop the slaughter planned by
rinagar city, saying it is an illegal and cruel solution to a problem that
ould be better addressed with other methods.
With the worldâ??s highest rabies fatality rate, India has grappled with ways
to
ontrol the millions of stray dogs that live on its streets.
In Srinagar, city officials vowed to press ahead with the plan already under
way
o poison strays with strychnine.
â??These dogs have become a big nuisance and they are threatening humans,â??
said
r. Riyaz Ahmad, the Srinagar city health officer who is organizing the killing.
It was not clear Thursday how many dogs have already been killed.
Activists fight poisoning drive

Indiaâ??s high-tech hub of Bangalore called off a drive to slaughter strays

In New Delhi, one city councilor suggested shipping the countryâ??s strays to
