When it becomes a crime to own an intact dog or cat.
CA-AB1634 has been out there for a while now. The bill's letters and
numbers have almost become a part of the the daily slang of people with
animals.
So perhaps that is why it was easy for AKC and others to negotiate a
"compromise" that still leaves animal owners in California without support.
Perhaps they just became so used to 1634 being out there, they became dumbed
down.
Like the AKC and other organizations, the American Dog Owner's Association
(ADOA) supports responsible animal ownership.
However, ADOA does not see CA-AB1634 as a referendum on responsible pet
ownership. Quite the contrary. CA-AB1634 in its original form and it's now
amended form, negotiated by AKC, makes being a responsible animal owner more
difficult than ever before.

Despite claims to the contrary, AB1634 is still a Mandatory Spay and Neuter
bill. This bill will leave California pet owners who dare to have intact
animals without many of the basic civil rights, we as Americans hold as part
of who and what we are.
Mandatory Spay and Neuter in any form, in any language, no matter how
diluted and negotiated does not work. That has been proven.
Please join the American Dog Owners Association in rejecting AB1634 in any
form.
