[ SHOWGSD-L ] ADMIN: Politics on the list

Ladies and Gentlemen:
Every year we deliberate about the issue of GSDCA politics on the List,
whether this is something that belongs there or not. Some people say yes,
some say no. It tends to get very nasty on the List during the
pre-election period, which was a reason we did not allow it. On the other
hand, the direction and future of the GSDCA is decided by the annual
elections, and so it really IS important that people understand what use
of their votes makes the most sense for them. There was a time when name
recognition was the only way to get elected. That has changed in recent
years due to the impact of the List - people get to "know" members they
have never met through their posts.
Our initial thought was to say "no politics" on the List. However, the
mission of Showgsd-l is communication and information. We have been
persuaded that the best interests of the MEMBERS, and so of the GSDCA, are
served when there is more information and communication, rather than less.
So, we have reconsidered our original position. Political discussions
WILL be permitted on Showgsd-l. However, the RULES of SHOWGSD-L MUST BE
FOLLOWED - that means:
* Forwarding, reproduction or use in any manner of any material
which appears on Showgsd-l without the express permission of all parties
to the post and the List management is expressly forbidden. This can
result in removal from the list. Showgsd posts are NOT public
information, and ARE protected speech.
* Do not send posts to the list from NON-MEMBERS. Send them to the
admin email for approval.
* The forwarding of a private post to the list is prohibited
* Personal attacks, hostile, accusatory posts, in word or in tone,
are prohibited.
* Administrative matters and complaints do not belong on the List.
Send these privately to the administrators at
admin@xxxxxxxxxxx<mailto:admin@xxxxxxxxxxx>
* No crossposts. Do not send posts to Showgsd-l and other mailing
lists in the same email, and do not send to Showgsd-l in any form material
from on other lists, without the express permission of the Showgsd
management. An exception exists with respect to crossposts involving
Rescue or matters of extremely urgent nature.
* Do not post for anyone else - especially nonlist members or
people on modpost.
Our membership gets very intense and passionate about issues concerning
the Clubs, which is fine. However, we WILL maintain order on the List
during this period, and if it means removing or restricting people who
will not follow the RULES, we will do so.
