[ SHOWGSD-L ] A "spotty" dog crosses the Rainbow Bridge

I just received an e-mail from my mom that Sidney - aka "Squiggy" has an
appointment with the good doctor at 5:00 pm this afternoon.
Sid came into this world on October 31st, 1995. From a litter of 8, he was
probably one of the cutest liver pups I have ever seen, with big ears, bright
eyes and personality plus.
As he grew up, he took us through many interesting challenges, like when he got
into some castor bean seeds and needed to be put on IV's at 5 months, or when
he broke his toe chasing a squirrel on the local college campus, or on the day
I finished his championship, he tried to knock over the judge and outrun all
the specials.
Sid was a dog of character and sometimes too much - like when the stray dog
raced up to him and he threw the dog to the ground, got up and walked off.
He's a dog that not everyone should have owned - he was smart, dominate, overly
friendly and loved to chase critters. He could smile and wag his tail in
circles and nothing he loved more in the world then all squeaky toys.
He had been in pretty good health until last week when he started holding fluid
in his abdomen from the medication he was on. I have not seen him for a couple
of weeks, but mom said he was starting to fail.
About an hour ago, I got the e-mail we all dread when we own dogs.... "I made
an appt. for Sid at 5:00 pm and I suspect it will be his last visit to the
vet".
As I sit here writing this, the tears are flowing and the memories are many. I
was there the day he came into this world and we will all be there when he
crosses to the Rainbow Bridge to be with all of the other great dogs that we
have been blessed to share our lives with.
Godspeed Squiggy.... The world has been a more interesting place because of him
and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
