I missed most of the posts about this before realizing what was being
discussed. This new color or pattern was started by a former club member of
our GSD club here in central Ohio. The person was mainly a performance person
and as someone else wrote, she said the color mysteriously appeared in a
litter, an anomaly supposedly. If I remember correctly, she had 2 of these
born within a large litter of otherwise normal black & tan puppies. She took
the 2 tri-colors (I refuse to call them Panda Shepherds -sorry!) to Ohio State
University Veterinary college to have all sorts of testing and dna done on
them. Supposedly they proved there that they pups were indeed from the two
dogs she bred and that the color was indeed a mutation of sorts. I think at
this point maybe she saw dollar signs. Started breeding them left and right
and marketed them as the new and exciting "Panda Shepherds".
So, again, I missed the original post or question, but thought the history
would be interesting to some.
Did one of these show up in a conformation ring somewhere?
