I had that happen once two big bitches, one pregnant struggling to keep them 
apart until I got to the kennel, they would get into it I would kick scream and 
finally get ahold of them and try to manuver to the kennel, got there and 
managed to put one in the kennel then the other and fell to the ground totally 
exhausted and shaking.  After having that experience never never will I let two 
bitches together. Thankfully no one was hurt except for a tiny hole in one of 
the bitches foot but other then that nothing and I know I was darn lucky!!!
 
When you have been through it once you never tempt fate again!

I was just wondering, what is the most German Shepherds  someone has living  
in the house at the same time?  Crates don't  count.  In the house, all  the 
time, loose,  except to go  potty?

I have owned seven at one time and everyone was free in the house and out - yes 
we crated at night and when a female was in heat, but all could be together at 
one time. Then the matriarch got sick and her daughter challenged her - even 
though she was sick, the matriarch would not back down. That fight was a frenzy 
as three others joined in - my husband was alone and it was all those dogs 
against the one. He'd get one off, then work on the other, and by the time he 
got another off, they'd circle around and come back again. Lasted for quite 
some 
time and he was exhausted, stressed....etc. but somehow he manuevered them 
towards the gates so he could shove them through as he got them off. We placed 
the daughter, lost the mother to Addison's Disease. All was peaceful for 
awhile..... and then the two males fought later. (I'd have to say I hate the 
bitch fights worse than the male fights). Placed one male. Had peace for 
awhile. 
Got a female and then got another female back. All was 
 peaceful until these two females matured and went into heat at the same time. 
Had to start flip-flopping those two. My older female also got into it with her 
half-brother durign that same heat cycle.... More flip-flopping....then the 
younger female decided she was not going to submit to the older female and 
proceeded to try to kill her. Again - husband was home alone. Have had enough 
stress and placed all but three. Still own the macho blockhead German/American 
male, (as much of a brat as he is with his dominance he is my baby and few 
people could handle his drive), kept the older female who's goign on eight and 
Pixel, my Boss baby. I will never again go through what I ahve gone through the 
years. I refuse to do kennels and I cannot handle the dynamics of the huge pack 
again. Three is enough for me! The older ones are home and just get the run of 
the house and get spoiled and I am focussing all my attention on Pixel 
(agility, 
obedience and conformation) which is such a nice 
 change of life!
