Almost-three-year-old Indi has, to my eye, plenty of options for stimulation, many self-appointed: - the dozen toys scattered about the floor - the humans to lean against and be petted by - grooming (OK, that's one I insist on and she hates!) - the attempts to turn the kitchen into a marshland - checking to make sure that Kate & I have left no paper towels, tissues, or plastic bags on any counters or tables (this is one she insists on and I hate!) - the task of keeping the 2 cats on the far (bedroom) side of the gate, except after 9pm when Neiman (but not Gongbi) is allowed out into the living room to sit on the play structure - occasionally, the task of deciding the Brittany the ES should stay Right Where She Is in the yard, or should be confined to the patio area - the scattering of lightweight gardening supplies about the yard so that I have more things to pick up and less time for grooming - breaking into buckets of kitchen scraps & coffee grounds before they can be put into the compost pile (so much for that restricted diet) - digging in the garden (late spring only, thank goodness! or knock wood ...) But this is not enough for our goofy girl. So Sunday she came up with another: - harvesting acorn squash out of the garden (and leaving them in the middle of the yard) <sigh> I would have more time to play with her if I spent less time picking up after her!!! At least she didn't fling the squash around; I don't think the skin got punctured through. Cheers, Leslie -- Leslie M.
