Evan, that is awesome. We all need to do this from time to time. Maybe one
person at a time we can turn this world around. Surprisingly we have a large
homeless population in Jackson Hole. One lady in particular lives under a
bridge year round. Right now it's below zero here. This lady could teach
survival classes. I had the opportunity one day to pay for her lunch. Not
sure how good it made her feel, but it made the rest of my day.

Each morning Tedi walks Kirk, usually 5 to 8 miles. She gets up, pins her
hair back, puts on some "dog clothes" and goes out for her walk. This is
California, it is always nice. We live in a very rural area, and most of the
walk Kirk wonders free.
Each morning about a mile into the walk she stops at Dennys and buys a cup
of coffee. She ties Kirk out front, and takes with her a small purse and
about $5.00 or so. Then she throws the change she gets back from the coffee
into her purse, and off they go to finish the stroll though the
neighborhood.
This last week when she went to pay, she realized she had a purse full of
change. So, she was counting out the dimes and quarters when a man walked
by, placed a $5.00 bill on the counter and told her, "Buy yourself a nice
breakfast." Tedi protested, but he refused to take it back.
I told her she needs to put on some makeup before she goes out.
So, this morning after I finished in court, there was a car, (a BMW) stuck
in the payout lane. The booth tender had us back up, and she backed up and
started to walk over to the court. I asked what the problem was, and he
told me she didn't have the cash to pay. So, I paid for her ticket. She
rushed over to get my business card so she could pay me back. She was a young
woman, well dressed, with about a two carat diamond on her left hand. She
just got in the lane to pay and found out they don't take a credit card.
I often buy for the car behind me when I go through McDonalds. I do check
to make sure there aren't six kids in the car, but for two or three dollars,
it makes me feel good, surprises them, and hopefully makes someone happy.
