Illustrated Standard might be good to show illustrations of faults, but

pictures of the finished product will show what we are looking for.
I don't want to sound like I don't appreciate all the hard work going into
improving the Illustrated Standard, but I find reading the written
standard,
mentoring, discussing the breed with someone while looking at it, the best
way to teach our standard.
Now if we were trying to build a dog, maybe a blueprint would be a good
idea. But, only a breeder can build a dog, and then there is a lot of
chance in
it.

It would seem like this quote came from me, but it did not. I only agreed
with the comparison. I still do.
I also agree with mentoring, and the written standard. I cannot for the
life of me understand why another tool such as the new I.S. would not be of
value. Tell me why not.
My father was a building contract all of his life. He was also a very good
draftsman, and you could definitely tell what his houses would look like,
from all angles.
