Unfortunately I am not seeing much reason.... I am seeing LOTS of emotion -
and not just here.

I can't remember what I was doing the other day, but somehow, I stumbled
upon the website of a person who is a part of an AR group (she didn't say
which one). On this site, she outlined the strategy of her group. First, she
said, they plan to go after small breeders because they aren't organized and
therefore can be picked off one by one until there is no more supply of
puppies from them. To eliminate the small breeders, she said her group and
others like it lobby for legislation demanding spaying and neutering. If the
breeders move out of the city limits to a farm, they then plan to go and
"liberate" (which she admits is the same thing as stealing") the breeding
stock, either turning them loose so they will die in the wilderness (a fate
that she thinks is far better for them than being kept in their kennels,
safe, warm and well-fed), or take them to the
cities that have the most strict laws and biggest fines.

Anyone who doesn't think there's a war going on is wrong. And it's a war
that's being fought not only with terrorist acts, but like all terrorist
movements, words that incite people to follow their cause.

At this rate we won't have to worry about the club in 5 years. At this
moment there are 28 states considering passing mandatory spay/neuter bills
or bills that would make breeding so expensive that the only ones left
breeding will be the large commercial breeders. That is where our focus
should be.

ps..... is there a way (other than electing a new board) for the MEMBERS to
override the vote of the Board?

and pps.... no I do not think petshops are a good place to get puppies! But
I am also realistic, and I KNOW how legislation and law enforcement work.
ANY kind of law that would "put them out of business" would also effect us.
It isn't sexy, nor is it fast, but the answer still remains EDUCATION.
