Yes, you are right Mary-Anne. I've had a litter of pups during a time when
an additional room was added. Lots of noise, hammering, sawing - the works.
I was sort of worried about the noise, but it did not bother the babies. In
fact, this was the soundest litter I have had, nothing bothered them, no
thunder, low flying airplanes or helicopters. I still have one from this
litter and he is a soothing presence to the others.

I guess I'm one of the really lucky ones. Neither of my guys is afraid of
fireworks or thunderstorms. But then again, I'm outside playing with them
and jackpotting them with treats the whole time that the fireworks and
storms are on. As far they're concerned, when big noise starts, that's
playtime. As an avid dragracer, I can't afford to have dogs that are afraid
of noise (jet cars, funny cars, unmuffled race cars or fireworks). From the
time they are 2 months old, my dogs go to the track with us and that's
playtime. As far as gunshots are concerned, my guys associate them with
squirrel and chipmunks as whenever those little pests are around, I take the
air gun and shoot at them (I'm not trying to hit them just dissuade them
from being around), the dogs figure that's great fun and become totally
excited whenever they see a gun or hear a car backfire. I've had 2 dogs in
the past that were noise sensitive and I always thought that part of the
reason it got so bad was because I babied them, cooing to them, and trying
to protect them from storms & noise. With these last two, I've totally
changed my strategy and it seems to be working...so far (one is 6, one is 1
year). If that changes in the future, I'll have to change my strategy
again.

I totally understand! Bull dose not mind gunshots or the fire work but he
freaks when it storms! I bought the D.A.B collar and I can say it dose
really help we used to have to knock him out too...I hated that
with the collar he comes to me stessed but I tell him to go lay down and he
will go lay in the tub..he dose not pace as much.
I just got the spray and the plug in I will let you all know if they help
better
When they stress so it worries the heck out of you.
