There is nothing worse than someone who has given up a pursuit and now wants to
tell everyone how terrible it is.
We see that in those who stop drinking, and preach how terrible alcohol is. Or
those who stop smoking, and want everyone else to do the same.
I know a number of people who stopped showing, and feel a need to trash the
sport and the dogs being shown. And include how stupid we are to do it.
I am not sure what causes that, but I know now that I am officially an old
person, I say down with the young. They are lazy, nasty, have no drive, want
instant gratification, and are nothing like we are.
Why can't they be like we were, perfect in every way? What's the matter with
kids today.
And, none of the kids today even remember Paul Lynd or By By Birdie.

This is more Jemima Harrison, Pedigree Dogs Exposed. I swear, somebody gets
some publicity and everybody jumps on. Recently there was a flap about a
couple of article in (I think) Canine Chronicle. A judge or former judge
became furious with AKC for some righted wrong, or wronged right, and tore down
all the same breeds (all AKC’s fault) that Jemima did and those who jumped on
her coat tails, did.
I did my comments at first, and then decided that I wasn’t going to play their
game by giving them more than they were worth.

Is there validity to what she says? Sure all of the breeds have changed, and so

nose. Do I think she has a case? NO! Change can be damaging or it can be
improving. Depends on the issues. We have overcome many disease problems -
that's good change. HD is always an issue, but as a current problem, we have
overcome it mostly.
Is there a positive point she is making? There's the problem with the argument.
She is not arguing against any specific change or problem but against breeding
purebred dogs. Maybe we should all just crawl in a hole and let the dogs breed
indiscriminately. That might make her happy, but I predict it would be a
disaster.
I personally do not give much notice to critics who propose no answers or who
have an agenda like this. It's easy to be against everything. It more difficult
to be a breeder and tackle the task of improving the breed and wrestling with
the gene gods who often throw curve balls.
Just my take on this issue. Can't stop the critics, so just keep making the
movies!
