Late this afternoon (30 December 2021) Donna and I visited Walker Pond west of
Florence (Lauderdale County AL). Birds of note included 33 Sandhill Cranes, a
very conservative estimate of 220 Green-winged Teals (I could not make out any
other duck species), and four Greater Yellowlegs. All birds were "way in the
back."
The main road to Church Pond is closed due to construction but is accessible
via the dirt road farther west on Gunwaleford Road (at the small church). A
few Ruddy Ducks and Ring-necked Ducks were on Church Pond- no geese at all.
