ALCON

Attached is the Ops order for this coming weekend. Note the following key
points:

All food must be brought with you. This doesn't have to be fancy foods like
MREs etc; I will be dining on canned soups myself. Those who aren't counting
calories might look at canned spaghetti, ravioli etc. For this training
event (and February) we will have a microwave and fridge available but that
is not usually the case. Note that the spaghetti with cheese and tomato
sauce (no meat) is not only cheaper, but not as bad should you have to eat
it cold due to the lack of grease from the meat. This is a good chance to
learn/practice self-sufficiency which is a skill that we should all
cultivate in ourselves and in our ground teams.

You do not need absolutely everything from your 24hr gear for this training
event or the one in Feb; the evaluation in Mar will call for gear as
specified in the Urban/Ground Team Task Guide. Use your judgement (and the
recommmended minimum gear list in the Ops Order) and bring what you feel you
need. Never let lack of gear keep you from attending as gear can almost
always be borrowed or worked around for training purposes.

Successful completion of the GSAR academy should result in the award of the
Ground Team Member Level 3 or Ground Team Leader speciatly rating for those
who are sufficiently motivated. Other mission staff signoffs and completions
may be available as well. There is no guarantee of award, simply that the
training and qualified evaluators will be available.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. If you catch
any inconsistencies in the Ops Order, please ask questions. It is 2AM -
'nuff said.
