Hi Peter,
I didn’t feel qualified to comment on your original post although I was
surprised at your decision given what you’ve done to the car!
All I ask is that you make the folding roof accessory available to me and do
not include it in the sale please? Pretty please?!
Many thanks,
Colin
P.S. The Can-Ems system works well on mine and has got rid of most of the
shunting😊!

So a big thank you to all who responded to my ‘shall I or shan’t I’ question. I
appreciate all your views, experiences and suggestions.
Richard:
Sounds like your wedge meant as much to you as my Chimaera does to me now. Yes,
I’ve seen a rebuilt 4.3 on the market. However, later ones frequently haven’t
been rebuilt although prices are still strong. I know the later ones were
generally much more reliable with improved quality components used by the
factory towards the end of production. Yours would appear to be a testament to
that! You certainly use it well and it’s good to hear that you like the longer
journeys. Smaller boot noted, more discipline needed to reduce the endless crap
we all carry! Thanks for your very kind offer to discuss further and/or drive.
Paul:
I could only live without roof off driving with aircon! Well, I’m not getting
any younger but it seems most have it factory fitted, which I would imagine is
a must in the summer. Cabin claustrophobia was a concern, so it would need to
have a light colour interior. I guess a test drive is the only way to check
this out. Engine note; as said, I feel a test drive coming on, once the
lockdown is lifted. Point taken on running costs. You would certainly know
about this, so good to hear.
Martin:
Cheers! There’s an orange one with a black stripe on PH right now. We could
play bookends!
Lee:
Hi Lee, I think we met at Biggin Hill last year. Yours is a very nice T350 sir
and you’re well qualified to compare all the TVRs you’ve owned. Interesting
that the T350 comes out on top. You’ve nailed it when you say most normal
people have never seen one. (Probably ALL abnormal people have never seen one
either!) I think put simply, it has presence.
Lin & Baz:
I completely agree regarding ‘part with nothing’. You should see the crap in my
garage! Unfortunately I already have another V8 toy in there, which I’ve had
for 36 years now and I really can’t part with that. I don’t think I’d get away
with treating myself once more…
Tim:
The voice of reason. (?) I know, that’s just the problem, loads spent and it’s
just how I like it now – although a different shade of blue wouldn’t go amiss –
oh and the mk 3 headlights look great. There I go again... All good here and
thanks for the kind offer when normality returns.
Nick:
A T350 for a week? Now that’s what I really need; the opportunity to make a
real objective comparison, preferably to Scotland and back. Don’t suppose that
will happen though. Interesting comparison between the V8 torque and the revvy
S6 but good to know you adapted quickly and enjoyed the rewarding volume
control when balanced properly! Good also to know that it’s compliant in
traffic, needs to be a given these days where we live. The steering column is
certainly an interesting observation and one to watch out for. Maybe the
correct disembarking procedure is an art to be mastered. Will keep in mind.
Small inside but like a go-kart on steroids? That’s going to a marmite thing.
Graham:
Parallel running sounds like a great plan. But then there’s the economics of
such a move – plus the buggeration of selling to test-pilots and tyre-kickers
once the decision is finally made. Not sure I could deal with that. Agree
though, it’s crucial to be certain before making the leap. Interested to see
your latest flat 6 Graham, although my TVR days are certainly not over yet!
So plenty of time to ponder and consider further, as none of us are going
anywhere soon. As I recently read on FB, the lawnmower is doing more miles than
the car these days!
Regards,
Peter
