A tentative suggestion is The Red Lion pub in Preston near Hitchin.
http://www.theredlionpreston.co.uk/  It’s just off the Welwyn- Codicote - ;
Hitchin road, the B656, about 3 miles south of Hitchin. Probably 10 minutes off
the A1 Hitchin exit.

There’s a triangular village green with no parking restrictions other than
space and of course the pub car park that I could speak to the landlord about
if there wasn’t enough rom round the green. Quiet village location and
brilliant pub, first “community pub” in the UK owned by some 200 locals. So
free house with good beers and outstanding snacks and lunch. Nice old English
garden and outside pizza oven in summer. Interesting and lovely drive to and
from as well.

I’m beginning to sound like an estate agent so I’ll stop there!  Would need a
visit as not sure how it would work for space if we had, say 15 – 20 on a
summers day. Worth a look I think.

Hi everyone,

Due to the pandemic and the losses they have incurred, Shuttleworth have now
implemented a new site entry policy which means everyone who is not an SVAS
member needs to pay £10-15 pounds to enter the site - even if they are just
going into the car park.

Now, the new fee allows anyone to access everything the site has to offer, but
assuming no one is really interested in looking at the gardens and collection
every month, I am assuming it is now time to start looking for a new venue.

I have not confirmed this will officially affect us with the Shuttleworth event
team yet, but I am pretty sure it will and they are not officially back until
later this month.

So...

I am looking for suggestions for a potential new monthly venue.

Options need to...

*       Have a good car park
*       Be reasonably accessible to everyone in the Herts/Beds/Middlesex/Bucks
regions
*       Have a place for drinks/food
*       Be... interesting or at least in an interesting location, i.e. not
Sainsbury's car park somewhere :)
*       Be car club friendly

I have some thoughts in mind, but open to any suggestions folks may have.

If folks would like to send me some options, I will compile a list and send
them out for consideration by everyone and then we can select the most popular.
