Hi scoaa members,
I have spent a great deal of time working on improving the propulsion system on
my seawind. I have re pitched and re tipped my props at least 6 times to tweak
their performance. I 'am convinced that the 9.9 provides ample of horsepower.
Delivery of the horsepower is the problem. The correct pitch and tip of the
props with shrouds I believe provides the desired thrust level you are seeking.
The new tip and pitch has been done by a prop shop in San Diego. The shrouds
are made and marketed by a company in New Port beach. If you anyone wants the
results of my two years of testing, few thousand miles of motoring, give me a
call on my cell.( 530 559 2807)

We just spoke to a Yamaha dealer in the Key's and he said the 2011
motors will not include the high thrust 9.9 with the 25" xl shaft. May have to
go to the 8hp. We did notice that the 20hp 4 stroke is about the same physical
size as our 2004 large 9.9's. Though they don't come in the 25" xl shaft the
20' shaft actually measures 23" to the cavitation plate. May be worth looking
into.
