Subject: Purlurl question
We're having some problems with our Profurl C350 on our 1160. We noticed a
set of furling half
bearings lying on the trampoline (the ~1/2" by ~ 6" "C" shaped metal and
plastic things that
go around the stay) after rolling up the jib following a day sail. We don't
know if this is the
only set that has fallen out or if others have also come out. After finding
those pieces, we
checked/tightened all the set screws, none were missing. I called and talked
to a Profurl tech
person and they said that the bottom set of bearing probable came loose and
slipped down the
tube. They said it's a relatively easy fix: just remove the lower set of
set-screws, separate
the tubes and install a new set of bearings. Sounds easy but before I wrap my
10 thumbs around
this has anyone had experience with this. Is there really enough room for the
tubes to slide
far enough apart? Cause of my problem: I didn't use loctite on the set screws
- lesson
learned.
