Do we need to get the antenna down at site 1 before the next storm? I can help today (Sunday) if weather permits. Bill McMillan KI6LXV From: sarcmembers-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:sarcmembers-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of David Dowler Sent: Saturday, January 23, 2010 2:11 PM To: sarcmembers@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [sarcmembers] Storm damage at SARC clubhouse, remote base etc All The clubhouse has suffered some damage from the last storm. The Cushcraft R8 vertical is now horizontal. It snapped at the insulator near the bottom. The mount at the building itself looks perfectly intact. When the separation occurred, a metal strap attaching the boom to the matching unit did not separate and now the tuning unit is also damaged. Some of the horizontal elements are now also mangled. I feel that the antenna is probably totaled. Luckily, the fall of the antenna did not cause any damage to the roof. I was at the station today because I was actually planning to use the antenna on 10M and 15M today. The similar antenna at the remote base is now tilted at about a 35 degree angle. Either the connecting mast will need to be replaced or the entire antenna taken down until the replacement can occur. If we don't do something soon, I suspect the antenna will fall and also be totaled. While I was at site 1, I reset the router that seemed to go into a diagnostic state during the storm. The remote base and Echolink node are back in operation for those of you that noticed they were down. 73 Dave KA6BFB _____ No virus found in this incoming message.
