Hmmm; reading the manual
http://www.clamav.net/doc/latest/clamdoc.pdf
it states that
"CONTSCAN and MULTISCAN don’t stop scanning in case a virus is found."
which, if I'm reading it correctly, means that in case the scanner
recognizes
a given "virus" (match) instead of stopping the scan it will continue
scanning
