Hi pals! The Halifax Pagans will hold their annual traditional Samhain
ritual on Saturday October 30th where they celebrate and observe the
connection with people who have died and left our mortal lives, and where
people open their hearts and minds to communication with all those departed
loved ones. It’s an interesting event with 50 - 100 participants. There’s
some chanting, people moving together in big circles, fire and ceremony and
togetherness all lead by local Pagan leader Donald Adams. Over the past
several years a few of us have participated with djembes and so on…
sometimes a surdo or a wood block or a bell. Last year there was a violin.
We watch Don as he conducts the ritual and take cues on when to play a
simple quiet background groove and when to let loose and really get into
it. We bring stools or folding chairs and warm clothes as there’s usually a
breeze and you can get cold sitting there in the open field. It’s a heck of
a lot of fun, and while I’ll be away you should go if you feel like doing
something interesting and enjoyable on Saturday evening. 7-9 pm on the
Commons near the skating oval or somewhere else in the area… the gathering
