Years ago several from SAC tried that site and it was pretty good, had a
gazebo, restroom and picnic tables. Only problem was when campers and mobile
homes turned up by the dozens so it was given up as a useful site.

You might consider Painted Rock Petrolglyph Site and Campground. It is a BLM
site, west of Gila Bend, and North of i-8.
BLM – Gila Bend – 623-580-500
https://www.blm.gov/visit/painted-rock-petroglyph-site
It is a fee area… $2/Day $8/Night
But if you explain to BLM (phone # above) what you are doing, you might get by….

Subject: [sac-forum] Looking For An Imaging Location South/West of The Valley
I am looking for a location SW of the greater Phoenix area that’s darker than
Picked Post to do wide-field imaging of the Rho Ophiuchi / M4 area. I also
want to get away from the Woodbury Fire. I did consider Vekol but last time I
was out there (~8 months) I was stopped by 2 Maricopa sheriff deputies. Also
the safety of Vekol is still questionable… I am looking somewhere along HW-84,
HW-238 or I-8. I did consider the All Arizona Star Party area but that’s too
far to drive.
What are my options?
Space is not black…
