<< I checked the archives, and folks generally agree FOR SALE items are tolerated here. >> So... I have pretty much decided (and confirmed through practice) that I am an observer who might take an occasional sky photograph. Definitely not the other way around. I purchased this very nice instrument for the sole purpose of putting it to work crafting magnificent astrophotos. At least, that was the intent. I can tell you that it renders exquisite visual planetary and lunar detail and splits a mean double star (ode to Mr. Harshaw). I could not tell you, from personal experience, what sort of photographs it might allow. I hear it might be pretty good at that. Governor Wiles would know. He used one, with jaw-dropping results, before he graduated to its bigger brother. Anyway, this ED127 is NOT a carbon tubed wonder. It's a 2010 vintage aluminum job with all the goodies Explore Scientific shipped with it: 2" dielectric diagonal, 2", decent 25mm ES eyepiece. illuminated reticule 9x50 finderscope and nice, heavy duty case, removable dew shield. Very smooth 2 speed Crayford focuser. Focal ratio is 7.5 (952mm focal length). Condition is, essentially, as new. As much as I hate to let it go, I cannot justify keeping it, given the use it gets. I am confident someone will be very happy with this telescope. I'd need to get $1200 for it on a local sale. FIRM. Thanks!
