Mike, the databases, in fact all of the observing lists, are public domain
and can be used by anyone. The only thing we have asked is that reference
to the work appear. These lists, especially the database, have been used by
many folks over the years and we are appreciative of that.

Anyone know if or how the SAC databases are licensed? Eric Hoag
forwarded a request to me from a student who is working on a project and
would like to incorporate the database files. I don't see any
information indicating whether an explicit copyright is claimed, who
owns it, nor terms of use.
My recommendation to the student would be to extract data from
catalogs available through CDS, however I can see where the SAC database
files would make for an easier starting point. In case the student turns
out to be someone looking to create a commercial product, or if any
other restrictions may be in place, it would be good to know before
granting access.
