Hi Sue
When there are multiple notices ON SAME DAY for a person, we enter all
available & pertinent information and list it under whichever category has the
most info. No need to duplicate the notices.
You will sometimes that a Death notice gives only date of funeral, and a FN
will give date of death.
Preference for indexing is the way it appears on the program – Death first
ALWAYS if it is available, then in descending order of the drop down menu in
that section.
Cheers

Subject: [ryerson_index] Herald Sun Indexing 19 April 2021 - Questions
Hi John
I have a couple of questions about the Herald Sun entries.
In the Herald Sun dated 19 April, the death notice for LANGHANS, Jason Paul
contains 7 notices put in by family and friends. Should I list the two entries
that have a date of death and then enter the others with a Publication date so
that the records show that there were several mentions?
What are the guidelines for entries in the Funeral section of the Herald Sun?
For example, Funeral notices for Pratten and SELVESTREL show the date of death
as well as the funeral date. Should enter the date of death as the Death date
and just put the Notice Type as Funeral?

Is anyone able to take over Barb Torley's HS indexing (Mon, Thurs, Sat) for the

The papers are available each day in the RNR.
