When I use the date picker for a December date, it isn't the default
for the next entry.  The next entry will have 1899 until typing
starts, then it will have the "current" date -- the date of the paper.

So the entries with Publication date are correct. What triggers the
warning?  This day a month ago may not.

What DOES change is that next time, the cursor will be somewhere in
the date field.  Then it is easy to spin the wrong number. If I hit
"-" in the month field instead of in the day field, the result is
December.

One possible scenario: the indexer thinks she is spinning for
yesterday, but with the cursor on the month, it becomes last month.  I
might do that.  I have to look at the keyboard, not the screen.  But
the part of the date that will change is highlighted.  A touch typist
should have no problems.
