A Community Conversation about Racial Healing in the 505

Museum of Albuquerque, 2000 Mountain Rd. NW
With leadership and guidance from 10 nonprofit community organizations, the
City of Albuquerque’s newly formed Office of Equity and Inclusion is hosting
the first of many interactive conversations about how each of us can be a part
of dismantling systemic racism--by honoring our lived experiences in Racial
Wisdom Circles.
The evening will feature performances by a diverse group of Albuquerque’s
beloved performing artists. These performances will serve as a backdrop for
brief presentations from community organizations about how they are confronting
racism. Mayor Tim Keller will talk about how the City is taking affirmative
steps to publicly recognize, confront and eliminate the adverse effects of
racial inequities. Every attendee will have the opportunity to participate in a
facilitated racial healing circle.
Dismantle racism? In three hours, you ask? This is just the beginning. The
longest journey begins with a single step. This event is The First Step: A
Place 4 All of Us.
