Sorry for the late response everyone, this freelists email keeps going to my
junk mail and I can't get it out...It's probably too late for my opinion, but I
think #2. The one submission is too detailed I think. From:

Okay, I don't have a clear majority decision for the logo design. However, it
sounds like most everyone is not content with keeping the one logo by Nick as
our winner.
That narrows it down to two options. Please vote on one of the two options by
Monday morning at 8 am. Then we can move forward. 1. Choose Nick as our
designer and ask him if he will send us a price quote for his time to give us a
few different options. He followed some specific instructions with the first
one about it being one color line art. If he's free to do "whatever he wants"
and is paid, he might come up with something different.
or
2. Solicit portfolio work and bids from our list of designers (including Nick)
and then choose one designer from there to make us multiple options.
If we choose 1 and Nick can't do what we want, we could always go to #2 to get
art from another designer.

Since so many people want to see different designs, here's my next idea:
We could move ahead with inviting all the designers to submit their bid and
portfolio content. Then we can look at everyone's design style as well as
compare their costs.
It wouldn't be fair to ask designers to submit multiple design options without
us paying them. Their time is worth a lot.
So, choose one of the following by tomorrow night 2/17 at midnight so we can
keep this rolling:
1. Choose Nick's design as the winning logo. Use it and pay him $100 from the
contest.
2. Choose Nick as our designer and ask him if he will send us a price quote for
his time to give us a few different options.
3. Solicit portfolio work and bids from our list of designers and then choose
one designer from there to make us multiple options.

I like the logo. However, it would be nice to have some options to choose
from. Therefore, my vote would be to still solicit quotes from a professional
designer.

Hello board--
Before I solicit logo quotes from designers, we need to finish "old business".
We actually did have a submission for a logo for the contest.
Nick Honn respectfully submitted a logo to our contest, see it attached.
We need to decide if we are going to choose this artwork to forward to staff to
also review, and then decide if he's our "winner", give him $100 and use the
new artwork (we have the right to adjust
it).
If we decide against it, then we could solicit quotes from a new designer.
Gary-- how do we want to go about voting on this?
