hello list, from a new member!

my mother gave me her father's old Rolleiflex today, which she remembers him having from before she was born & before he married my grandmother, which puts the camera's age in the 1930s. I looked at the lists on Rolleiclub.com website, and according to its characteristics (it has a Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 3.5 lens, a Heidoscope-Anastigmat 2.8 viewing lens, and a Compur-Rapid shutter -- and overall design matches the description) and the serial number (620925) it seems to be one of the first models of Automat, made between 1937-39. I've posted a photo of it on-line at Flickr:

I'm so excited -- have been introduced to TLRs by messing around with a Seagull these past few months, but this is such an elegant beast, and I love having the long family connection... so if anyone has any particular tips for its care and feeding, please let me know!

the one downside (which i've read about) is that the old viewfinder (with the grid pattern) is rather dark & hard to focus through -- I know some cameras can get replacement screens, is that possible in this old of a model?

thanks,
laura
