I had to do the same. The hole in the other camera cam plate is now a
slot. Not perfect, but works o.k.

Interesting Project. Incidentally, I have had to couple two shafts together
in a model boat and the solution was to make the place the driving pin goes
into, into a slot instead of a hole. (or the other way around).
