John Thanks for the information. I just downloaded your article. I
am going fully digital with this system and can report back when i
have all the parts and components to get up and running. If you see
any digital lenses in those rollei shutters for sale let me know. Mark

Dear Xaxters,
I use a Rollei Xact2 and have written an aricle in the new 'Club Rollei User' magazine available as PDF at www.rollei.org.uk (although I am not an expert).
Basically, the Xact is designed to use 6000 series lenses via an adapter and a 456 motorised film back controlled by the 'Lens Control S' hand-held controller. The 6000 lenses do not have a sufficiently large image circle to use full movements on the 456 back but are fine with a digital back with 4x4 sensor. The most elaborate & expensive setup is a digitar lens in Rollei electronic shutter and digital back controlled by the 'Lens Control S'. The 'Lens Control S',I guess is the 6000 electronics in a hand-held controller.
My setup consists of large format Rodenstock lenses in manual shutters and a 6000 6x6 film back which I have modified to manual wind on. The 6000 series film back, polaroid back and viewfinder/prisms are attached via the 'panshot device'. My modifications to full manual operation significantly reduces the cost of the system.
I have toyed with the idea of taking connections from the 6000 camera lens mount via an short extension tube> to multicore flex> to plug connector> to the 6000 lens adapter and also from the DIN connector to a 456 motorised back so that the camera can be used to control the Xact as opposed to buying a 'Lens Control S'. I don't wish to damage the electronice on a 6000 though!
