Is the frosted side supposed to be down, facing the mirror?

This means the polished side is up, facing the user's eye

Is that right?

The ones I had, and still have, are held in with little wire clips that engage bevels on the top side of the screen. Those are, of course, the plastic Fresnel versions. This puts the frosted side down, at the focal plane.
