Mark:
Very true what you say about the SL66! It's both the built-in bellows and the buit-in retro mounting capability of all lenses from 50-250 mm.
Hm, why did I ever sell my SL66SE?? I guess I didn't like the weight & bulk of the SL66 and its awkward handling off tripod. It's hard to focus with the left side knob, operate the right side shutter release and hold the camera steady and comfortably.

Both Hasselblad and Contax 645 let you focus on the lens helicoid which immediately stabilizes the shot. The Contax 645 (or insert Mamiya/Pentax 645 here) also let you hold and release the camera on the right side just like a 35 mm SLR.
Dissassembled into its components the Contax 645 fits into a small outfit bag. Just wished someone made a really compact bellows unit for it with electronic transfer of lens functions sth. like an oversized Novoflex Canon EOS Auto bellows without the focussing rack.

Again you are right for dedicated shooting trips to a botanical garden or in the woods (fungi, flowers etc.) the SL66 is a phantastic machine.

I went out shooting a year or so ago with an old timer friend who used this
camera as did I'm sure you know Bret Weston. This guy coincidently knew Bret
and they went out shooting with their SL66s together on occasion a way back!
Anyway with my new 120 macro on my camera shooting in a botanical garden
this guy had me outclassed. With the bellows built in he had convenient
close focus capability's my Hassy could not easily match. Me not having
thought to bring rings and Dioptor and so on not thinking that was the shoot
would be all about. But with the 66 you're instantly set up for that at any
moment built in.....
