        I'm still regretting the opportunities I lost to buy a SL 66.
I have no doubt you can use a SL 66 without tripod, there is a
dedicated grip that helps very much for the purpose, the four Rollei
SL 66 I saw here were used on tripod for portraits mainly and I have a
portrait of mine taken by a SL 66 in a pro studio in 1974, anyway some
users prefer to use it on tripod:
