Rred Spira of Spiratone died on 2 SEP 2007. I only met him a couple of times -- Ed Meyers must have known him well. The obits are full of inflated claims but it is hard to overstate his impact on the US photography industry from the late 1940's to the late 1980's. He left one hell of a hole.
