Wow,
neat! I really like the formalism and snap here, especially in the second and
fourth shot, the contrast really adds to the effect and makes the shots pop!
The third one is interesting, it looks from the angle of the sun that it was a
pretty harsh direct light, but the buildings and landscape still seem softened
and somewhat lower contrast than one would expect, especially comparing to the
other two.
The story too is interesting, being in Italy but indeed looking very German.
Thanks,
Thor

Those four were taken during a recent vacation in Südtirol in the North of
Italy in the town of Bozen, a lively province capital, mostly German speaking
and with a long history. Bozen has a nice and cramped old town with
occasional views on the near alps. On the other side of the river, Bozen’s
new town stretches, built largely during the fascist period in Italy, when
Mussolini’s architects tried to form the “New Time” that he promised. It is
interesting that there are rather more architectural remnants of this time in
Italy than in Germany – Mussolini came to power already in 1922.
Walking past these buildings today is an odd experience. There is lots of
space to walk and see and ‘live’ but the size somehow doesn’t fit, yet the
area is surely impressive.
Work is currently been done on the relief on the finance building. It is
titled “The Triumph of Fascism”, and will now be modified – a compromise
between eliminating the most inhuman aspects and historical accuracy.
Pictures were taken with the 3,5F on Fuji Acros 100 and reproduced with a
Sony A7RII from a light panel, post-processed in Capture One.

Sven

I find it somewhat ironic and somewhat sad that only one person ever posts
links to pictures regularly anymore, yet a single post of a poster showing an
old Rollei elicits a barrage of conjecture, speculation and research.
Not that I’ve been any better at posting pics, I have about 30 rolls waiting
to be developed, and even more to be scanned, but there are a lot of people
here. Is no one out shooting with their Rolleis anymore? Has this list become
a museum dedicated to the brand? To dealing with historical facts and
figures, weights, measures, productions numbers? Nothing wrong with that, but
where are the photographers using these cameras?
I’d love to see some of the art/work people here are creating. Slobodan?
Daniel? Sanders? Volker? Ferdi? Don? Marvin? Pablo? Emmanuel? Ken? Jerry?
Many more whom I’ve (unintentionally) left out?
I mean this in the best possible way.

Actually Rollei never fabricated any large format camera or lenses, however
there was a medium format Rollei monorail camera (X-Act) and Voigtländer had
a monorail camera on its catalogue at the beginning of the 1950's, and
manufactured large format lenses until the beginning of the 1970s.
