Early organs, including reed organs, with one keyboard often had a SPLIT POINT.
There were two sets of the same stops, pulling ones on the left side would play
up until a point at which stops you’d choose from the right side would play.
It’s a Poor Person’s Two Manual Organ!
I received an email just from an organist now who has set up a PERFORMANCE - a
setting of voices - on the Roland XV-2020, which is teh partent of the Rodgers
MX-200. A PERFORMANCE creates a split wihtint the MIDI book that may be played
by an external keyboard. He can play it, but cannot trigger the PERFORMANCE
from the Rodgers. I don’t know if this is possible, but will be looking this
up in the XV-2020 manual..
But…..then I thought of this:
It would appear to be impossible to use split on a keyboard on the Rodgers
using MIDI voices..
BUT…., playing on the GREAT, set the left hand MIDI voice in the pedal, the
right hand MIDI voice on the SWELL, then, wiht no Great stops lit up, select
the BASS and MEL couplers.
Save this to a piston.
You may then adjust the SPLIT point for the BASS coupler to suit your music
