As a composer, you are stuck with trying be generically specific - I register my pieces on my Rodgers Insignia 757. Does that mean that all the stops on the larger organs should not be used? Absolutely not! I try to specify stop families (Principal, Flute, Reed, etc.) but I absolutely depend on the organist knowing their own instrument and adjusting accordingly, otherwise, we BOTH sound real bad.
