I have heard that in some situations they can breach the airframe instead of deploying the laundry. I always use a piston to protect the fabric. Others have successfully used baffles and 'protectors' (scraps of nomex or kevlar). On larger projects I place each system in it's own 4 or 6 inch airframe inside the recovery bay.
