Hello Chris. Now I recall your video and camera. That’s a high quality video.
But, also the camera is relatively expensive compared to the cameras many
people seem to be using; like the keychain camera that Kurt mentioned. I think
one of the reasons people like the keychain camera is that it can be hacked.
So, it’s easier to adapt to fitting in a rocket than let’s say a GoPro.
Looking around on the web, I’m seeing more action cameras like the GoPro. But,
most are over $150, relatively large, and not configured well for our use. For
example, we don’t require it to be water proof, and again it’s difficult
mounting a box device with a large lens in a rocket airframe without providing
it’s own bay.
So, I’ll get one of the keychain cameras to try and keep looking for low cost
cameras that are well suited for rocketry. Too bad the Conbrov had some
problems. The video quality seemed good.

Thank you Kurt. I would be happy to compare. I’ll get one next time I’m
placing an Amazon order.
Also, someone had mentioned a Sony camera in the recent past. Do you know
which one they are thinking of?
So, I was surprised by the big difference between the cameras in this
comparison. Particularly the color and sound.
It still looks to me that the GoPro is the standard for action cameras. And,
I didn’t even have it on the 60 fps setting. Maybe next time I’ll compare
using different settings. Just wish it didn’t have a big square lens and
heat up so quickly.

Great side by side comparison, Richard. I wonder how the keychain camera
would compare.

I’m always looking for an inexpensive and good quality flight camera.
Recently, I saw the Conbrov Mini (Spy) Camera on Amazon and decided to give
it a try. It has a good configuration for mounting in a rocket, had pretty
good reviews, and was $40.
Here’s a link to a short video I created comparing it to the Veho Muvi and
GoPro Hero Session I’ve used before.
Video Camera Comparison <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dCnejmw40pQ>
Although the price is good, in my opinion this wouldn’t be a good camera for
on-board video. But, take a look, the video quality is pretty good.
However, I decided not to recommend this camera for the following reasons:
It’s sold as a “spy” camera and the manufacturer doesn’t ship it with the
audio enabled. You have to go through a procedure to get this accomplished
and this is a hassle.
The video tends to temporarily freeze as it's recording.
There’s no status light showing that video recording is taking place. The
status light actually goes off when you press video record on the camera.
Always interested in comments or suggestions.
