I know that quite a few ROC members have 3D printers, and that there are a
ton of options out there. I'm thinking of buying and/or building one for
myself, and am looking for advice.
What models currently give the best bang for the buck? I'm thinking of
using one to make small project enclosures for my own electronic projects,
as well as altimeter sleds for rocketry use, similar to the ones Mike
Kramer designed (and I'm sure lots of other cool uses will present
themselves as soon as I have one).
I'm looking to spend as little as possible for a useful machine I won't
immediately regret buying. If there are "must have" features, or common
problems that are solved by slightly more expensive models, I'd like to
know that....
Basically, with all the collected experience of ROC members doing 3D
printing, I'd like to know what machines you wished you had bought when you
were starting out, instead of what you did buy. Help me learn from your
initial mistakes....
