Hey Reg, Here's an idea, if Jim doesn't mind. Why not use the Real-Eyes chat room to host a couple of training sessions on Open Book? You can talk people through the basics live and in e-person. <grin> Robert Lee Beach Assistive Technology Specialist Kansas City Kansas Community College 7250 State Avenue Kansas City, KS 66112 Phone: 913-288-7671 Fax: 913-288-7678 E-Mail: rbeach@xxxxxxxxx -----Original Message----- From: real-eyes-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:real-eyes-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Reginald George Sent: Tuesday, August 11, 2009 11:13 AM To: real-eyes@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [real-eyes] Re: online or in-person tech courses Openbook 8 was a pretty significant upgrade, and a new version should come out this fall. There are newer versions of the scanning engines, it uses the same Eloquence as jaws, and you can adjust things and reerecognize the page if you don't like the way it scans the first time. If you go to the Openbook page on our web site there's a what's new file that will tell you about the changes. I think the upgrade is worth the minimal cost. ----- Original Message ----- From: "V Nork" <ginisd@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <real-eyes@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, August 11, 2009 10:44 AM Subject: [real-eyes] Re: online or in-person tech courses Hi Reg, I am just wondering, I have Open Book, version 7.02. I have not updated it since I got it, and I wonder what some of the reasons to update to the latest version would be. Thanks for your input on Open book, which still seems miraculous to me when I use it to read print, Ginnie ----- Original Message ----- From: "Reginald George" <sgeorge@xxxxxxxxx> To: <real-eyes@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, August 11, 2009 8:04 AM Subject: [real-eyes] Re: online or in-person tech courses > Hi Kim, > > I don't believe that there are any.
