Unfortunately, there are some misuses of speech that we can't do a whole lot
about, and I believe that this may be one of them. A friend of mine who posted
the message that I posted on this list actually subscribed to the list to see
what it was about, then unsubscribed after writing directly to the owner. Here
is his reply to her. It speaks for itself.
I'm not terribly concerned with my reputation in the blind community. I'm
providing blind people a place to say those politically incorrect things
they want to say to others in the blind community.
I am a blind person as well.
In addition, we don't want to discriminate, so if we see other sighted
people being idiots, we want to hear about them too.
Names of these people aren't required, of course, but sometimes they come
up.
The group description was written intentionally to make sure that those of
the faint of heart, and those with tender sensibilities do not subscribe.
Most reaction to the list has been from the description, rather than the
content, which demonstrates that the concept of a book being judged by it's
cover is not dead. I was hoping that the blind community had more sense. I
should have known better. Thanks for writing.

Thanks for posting this to the list Nancy. That is really jacked up. I
wondered when all this democracy out here would be used to hurt people. The
scary thing is, I know folks that would love a list like this. What a
wonderful use of computer time, causing other people pain, not!
Folks love to flame others from the safety and anonymity of their homes but,
they will be judged if they throw stones like this.

Are you all aware that on yahoogroups, there is a group called blind-tard.
This group is specifically to denegrade, trash and otherwise insult blind
people. I was told about it and went to investigate it. I have been told
that there are blind people who have gone to investigate this and have
written to yahoogroups, so I thought I'd pass this on in case you were so
inclined. I have already sent some feedback to yahoogroups myself. Below
is how this group advertises itself. You can find it yourself on
yahoogroups. It's quite despicable.
