Hi,

That makesperfect sense. If there's high traffic on the internet, that might
be why firefox takes longer to download a file. I know sometimes IE can take
awhile to download a file depending on the size of it.

Hi,

For this one I would say it mostly has to do with the size of the file, and
the speed of the server that's hosting the podcast or other internet
traffic, and not the browser. Other factors include the load on your ISP,
how many people are downloading on your local neighborhood cable hub, and
how many other people are downloading from a given site at the same time.
In short, speed varies wildly. You can test that by downloading the same
file in Firefox, then internet explorer. You don't even have to let it
finish. Just let it download for a minute or so, then read the window and
pay attention to the number called transfer rate, or KB per second. In
general, your browser should not effect download speed. Some browsers have
ways of speeding up the loading or caching of pages, but everyone sips from
the same internet straw. There are download accelerators that try to speed
things up by opening five connections to the same site at the same time, but
this takes up slots other people should get for downloading.

Subject: [real-eyes] downloading a podcast using firefox

Hi, everyone,
I wanted to hear a podcast about NVDA using firefox but when I tried to
download it, it took a long time to download. It seemed to download faster
in internet explorer. Is there a reason why this could be happening? It
seems like the older versions of firefox downloaded things so much faster.

Any help will be very much appreciated.

Many thanks in advance.
