...Dangerous Heat Returns This Week...
.Hot and humid temperatures are expected to return this week and
will linger through Saturday across the region. Air temperatures
will reach near the triple digit mark by midweek, and heat indices
may reach or exceed 105 to 110 degrees each afternoon. Both the
heat and the humidity will build gradually over the next several
days and may not provide a perceptible delineation before/after
the watch period; however, the worst conditions are expected
Tuesday through Saturday, and this prolonged period of muggy,
dangerously hot conditions with little relief at night could lead
to heat-related illness.
...EXCESSIVE HEAT WATCH NOW IN EFFECT FROM TUESDAY AFTERNOON
THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING...
* TEMPERATURE...Highs from the mid 90s to near 100 degrees.
* HEAT INDEX...Up to 105 Tuesday, 105 to 110 Wednesday through
Friday, and up to 105 Saturday.
* IMPACTS...Prolonged exposure to heat and humidity may lead to
heat-related illness if precautions are not taken.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
An Excessive Heat Watch means that a prolonged period of hot
temperatures is expected. The combination of hot temperatures and
high humidity will combine to create a DANGEROUS SITUATION in
which heat illnesses are possible. Drink plenty of fluids, stay
in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on
relatives and neighbors.
