As long as we can still run conventional, have at it.

Simply put, Lionel Command Control can't run MTH PS2/3. But MTH DCS can run
TMCC and Legacy. With the new power carts, if there is no objection, I think we
need to buy the cable to connect the MTH TIU to the Lionel Legacy Command base.

I know the die hard Lionel guys dont want to hear this, but Toms explanation of
his operating layout supports my opinion that the MTH DCS system is heads and
above all the other systems out there--including Lionel. But, they are still
great railroading experiences for the operating trainworld, and look how far
the hobby has come in the last 50.
Never forget......"its YOUR railroad, run it the way you want"

Subject: [rc3r] Tom's Home Layout Update
Just for the crew, I thought I'd send out an update on my home layout.
All 24 Ross switches are wired and working. The MTH DCS Routes are programmed
and work like a champ. The double cross-over and two double slips are up and
running. The only issue there is my Lionel TMCC N&W Lionmaster A has an issue
with the double slips. The rollers aren't spanning the gap and the locomotive
is losing power over these switches. The dinky MTH H-3 Consolidation has no
problem. It just putts right across them w/o any problems.
I picked up a Lionel Great Big Button on eBay for less than $25. Works great
and the granddaughters love it. The TMCC has been tested and running. I have
also been running TMCC w/ the MTH DCS. Honestly, I like TMCC with DCS better
than with the Cab1. For the cost of a cable, we can connect the DCS on the club
layout to the Cab1L Legacy.
BIG shout-out to Bob Buehler on running Legacy with TMCC. I "thought" my sole
Legacy engine would not run on my layout w/o a Legacy Command base. Well, it
runs like a champ with the TMCC Command Base!. I have also been running it with
the DCS. These Legacy engines are neat. This thing creeps along w/ a "1"
setting on the DCS remote. I know, I know the Legacy has 200 speed steps. The
128 on TMCC isn't bad.
I need to confirm isolation on my power districts. There may be a couple of
isolation pins left to add. But, I general this thing is running.
