Greenberg would pay an honorarium of $50 for the small layout, $100 or $150
for the big layout. In either case its not near enough to cover motel rooms,
food, and gas for the Chantilly show. We would probably have to get permission
to sell raffle tickets. I don't think this show is worth it. If they have
another show in Fredericksberg that might work as it is within commuting
distance.

The last Chantilly show I did, they had NO O scale layout. It would be a big
plus for the Greenberg show and good exposure for the RC3R. I will be there as

We looked into the State Fair and the downer was the 40+ miles each way to
Caroline Co.
OK…..let me put this out there……..Greenberg 8/26-27…….Chantilly in Northern
VA……same venue as the WGH show some of us road-tripped to in 2010. It would be
a huge commitment. We would have to leave Friday afternoon and get back about
9PM Sunday night. It would entail 2 nights of hotels and we would need at least
8-12 people to set it up, man it and take it down.

it. It's the Fair's loss in the long-term. To paraphrase a line from a movie

RC3R are the fall-back position for the Fair if the robotics group does not
accept. My guess is they won't be able to meet the insurance requirements. As
mentioned earlier, let them have a year without trains and see how it goes.

I'm not going to miss this venue. After the downsizing, forced hike from the
parking lots which limits what we can bring to run, and restricted ticket
distribution I've lost all interest in the Fair. It's just a hassle
anymore. As far as being Plan B, if they do decide they want us back we need
ask for more, say $750 to $1000. If they don't want to, then we need to
wish them luck and walk away.

Ben called me today with an update on the Chesterfield County Fair for
2017. The Fair is planning some changes for this year. The Fair has offered
our spot to a robotics group. The robotics group has a month to commit to
the fair. The RC3Rs are plan "B" for this year's Fair per their management.
If we do not participate, we will loose the $500.00 payment plus the raffle
money received from the event. The club is financially in good standing as
a reminder.
Certainly we will need to also reconsider our priority of expanding the
small layout in time for this year's Fair.
I believe we can find other places to share our passion of model trains
with the public and probably receive some type of donation at the same time.
What are your thoughts on participating in the Fair this year if given the
opportunity to do so ?
Let me know if you want to take a vote on participating in this year's Fair.
Thanks,
Bill
